PRACTICAL, POETIC, & PERSUASIVE POSTERS

2020

When asked to design a set of three posters, each representing one of the emphasized terms; practical, poetic & persuasive, I had a concept to do a cohesive collection of three different representations of the same feeling. We were then given a list of words to choose from describing different feelings and emotions, and I chose to represent the word “Bliss” in the following set.

I thought, okay; practical represent of being blissful is being happy and exuding a bright and beautiful smile. For poetic, I always think of telling someone you find bliss in their presence, so I displayed a couple with their lips locked in a kiss to show the passion they share. Finally, I struggled to come up with a persuasive way to show bliss. But then it struck me; someone can persuade you that something will bring you utter bliss, which could relate to someone trying to push the feeling of using drugs on someone else. When trying to position the contraband in the design, I kept struggling to position the persuasive hand holding it and not having it be blocking the typography. My solution was to simply combine the two, since the shape of the filter mimicked the shape of the “I” in bliss so well.
